        FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to revise certain provisions regarding the abandonment or dissolution of television translator districts.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
    Section 1. That ยง 49-32A-21 be amended to read:
    49-32A-21. If at any time a petition for abandonment of the television district, signed by not less than fifty-one percent of the voters is filed with the board of trustees, the board of trustees shall forthwith notify the board or boards of county commissioners which created the district, and such board or boards of county commissioners shall by resolution immediately declare the district abandoned. If a board of county commissioners finds, following a public hearing or hearings, that the continued existence of a television translator district would no longer serve the purposes of this chapter, it may by resolution order the district dissolved. In the case of a television translator district that includes more than one county, each board of county commissioners must order the district dissolved by resolution. All properties and money remaining after the satisfaction of all debts and obligations of such the abandoned district shall

be deposited to the credit of the general fund of the county. If the abandoned district embraced areas in more than one county, properties and moneys remaining after the satisfaction of all debts and obligations of such the abandoned district shall be deposited to the credit of the general funds of such the relevant counties in proportion to the population in each county which that was served by the district.
