The contract must be approved by and shall be filed with the commission. A contract made for less than 5 years is subject to written extension. If the person is under 18, the apprentice must have the written consent of the apprentice's parents or guardian.</span></font></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>&nbsp;</span></font></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After one year of service with a racing stable, an apprentice may claim a 5-pound weight allowance in all overnight races except handicaps. The apprentice may continue this allowance for one year from the date of the apprentice's fifth winner.
