Department of Commerce and Regulation: Division of Insurance: (February 7, 2001) is proposing adoption of rules to replace outdated manuals incorporated by reference with the most recent NAIC manual and to exempt insurers writing surety bonds guaranteeing to lending institutions the repayment of student loans made by lending institutions from complying with SSAP60 of the Accounting Practices and Procedures Manual. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the division is SDCL 58-6-75 and 58-27-7.
A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at 9:00 a.m., in the first floor conference room of the Commerce Building, 118 West Capitol Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to the South Dakota Division of Insurance, 118 West Capitol Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-2017. Material sent by mail must reach the office by Monday, March 19, 2001, to be considered. Persons who have special needs for which the office can make arrangements are asked to call (605) 773-3563 before the hearing.
