NOTICES OF PROPOSED RULES: (The date in parentheses is the date the rules were filed in the Legislative Research Council)

Department of Agriculture: Animal Industry Board: (June 7, 2001) intends to adopt rules to establish vaccination requirements for brucellosis and a new rule to reflect board activities in dealing with serious animal disease emergency threats. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department, is SDCL 40-3-14 and 40-7-20.1.

A public hearing will be held on Monday, July 9, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Animal Industry Board Office, 411 South Fort Street, Pierre, South Dakota. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to South Dakota Animal Industry Board, 411 South Fort Street, Pierre, South Dakota 57501. Material sent by mail must reach the office by July 6, 2001, to be considered. This hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Persons who have special needs for which the department can make arrangements may call (605) 773-3321 before the hearing.

Executive Appointments:

Donald Fletcher, Reliance, was reappointed on June 1, 2001, to the South Dakota Weed and Pest Control Commission, effective immediately and to continue until June 1, 2004.

Duane Buckmeier, Prairie City, was reappointed on June 1, 2001, to the South Dakota Weed and Pest Control Commission, effective immediately and to continue until June 1, 2003.

Ronald Thyen, Hayti, was appointed on June 1, 2001, to the South Dakota Weed and Pest Control Commission, to replace Daniel Olsen, effective immediately and to continue until June 1, 2002.

Ronald Reed, Oldham, was reappointed on June 1, 2001, to the South Dakota Weed and Pest Control Commission, effective immediately and to continue until June 1, 2003.

Lynn Deibert, Herried, was reappointed on June 1, 2001, to the South Dakota Weed and Pest Control Commission, effective immediately and to continue until June 1, 2004.

Rules Review Committee Meetings

The next meeting of the Interim Rules Review Committee will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 413 of the State Capitol. The committee chair has set the following tentative meeting schedule for the 2001 interim: August 7, October 8, and November 28.

Agencies whose rules have had a public hearing will be scheduled to meet with the Rules Review Committee and are asked to have a representative present at the meeting to give background information on their rules. Each agency is requested to provide the LRC with eight copies of the most recent draft of its rules two days before the meeting.
