Department of Commerce and Regulation: Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners (July 28, 1999) is considering amendment of a rule to reduce the annual physician licensure renewal fee to $50 which will better match board revenues and expenses. The general authority for this rule, as cited by the board, is SDCL 36-4-35.

A public hearing will be held in Dakota Room B, Oaks Hotel, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on September 16, 1999, at 11:30 a.m. Copies of the proposed rule may be obtained from and written comments sent to the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners, 1323 South Minnesota Avenue, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57105. Material sent by mail must reach the board's office by September 15, 1999, to be considered. Persons who have special needs for which the board can make arrangements may call the board at (605) 334-8343 before the hearing.

Department of Transportation (July 28, 1999) is considering amendments to rules to establish a speed limit of 55 miles per hour on a portion of US Highway 18 in Lincoln County and to reduce the speed limit in Roberts County at the junction of US Highway 12 and Interstate Highway 29. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department, is SDCL 32-25-7.

 

A public hearing will be held in the Commission Room, Becker-Hansen Building, 700 East Broadway Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota, on August 26, 1999, at 9:05 a.m. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, 700 East Broadway Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-2586. Material sent by mail must reach the Department by August 25, 1999, to be considered. This hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Persons who have special needs for which the agency can make arrangements are asked to call (605) 773-3265 at least forty-eight hours before the hearing.

Department of Commerce and Regulation: Board of Funeral Services (July 29, 1999) is considering adoption of rules to enable the S.D. Board of Funeral Service to regulate crematories. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the board, is SDCL 1-26-29, 34-1-16, 34-1-17, 34-26A-33, 34-26A-34.

A public hearing will be held in the State Capitol Building, Room 413, Pierre, South Dakota, on October 7, 1999, at 1:00 p.m. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to the South Dakota Board of Funeral Service, 135 East Illinois, Suite 214, Spearfish, South Dakota 57783. Material sent by mail must reach the Board of Funeral Service office by October 4, 1999, to be considered. Persons who have special needs for which the board can make arrangements may call (605) 642-1600 before the hearing.

Executive Appointments:

Ron W. Wheeler, Pierre, was appointed July 20, 1999, to the Great Plains Education Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors, effective immediately and to continue at the pleasure of the Governor.

David R. Johnson, Sioux Falls, was appointed July 23, 1999, to the South Dakota Board of Counselor Examiners to replace Deb Kuhler, effective immediately and to continue until July 1, 2002.

Duncan S. Murdy, Aberdeen, was reappointed July 23, 1999, to the State Board of Pharmacy, effective October 1, 1999, and to continue until October 1, 2002.

Rules Review Committee Meeting

The next meeting of the Interim Rules Review Committee will be held Wednesday, August 11, 1999, in Legislative Conference Rooms 1 and 2, Third Floor, State Capitol, Pierre, starting at 9:00 a.m. Agencies whose rules have had a public hearing are asked to have a representative present at the meeting to give background information on their rules.
