PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION: (December 9, 1999) is proposing rules to streamline regulatory procedures and simplify billings by gas and electric utilities. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the commission, is SDCL 49-1-11, 49-31-3, 49-31-76, and 49-34A-4.

A public hearing will be held in Room 468, Fourth Floor, State Capitol, 500 East Capitol, Pierre, South Dakota, on Monday, January 10, 2000, at 9:00 a.m. to consider the adoption of the proposed rules. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, State Capitol, 500 East Capitol, Pierre, South Dakota, 57501-5070, and must be received by January 21, 2000, to be considered. The proposed rules may also be found on the Public Utilities Commission's home page at: http://www.state.sd.us/puc. This hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Persons who have special needs for which the commission can make arrangements may call (605) 773-3201 at least forty-eight hours before the hearing.

Rules Review Committee Meeting

The next meeting of the Interim Rules Review Committee will be held Tuesday, December 14, 1999, in Legislative Conference Rooms 1 and 2, Third Floor, State Capitol, Pierre, starting at 1:00 p.m. Agencies whose rules have had a public hearing are asked to have a representative present at the meeting to give background information on their rules.

Each agency is requested to provide LRC with eight copies of the most recent draft of its rules two days before the meeting.
