___________________ moved that SB 143 be amended as follows:

     On page 1, line 15 of the printed bill, delete " This Act is " and insert "Sections 1 and 2 of this Act are".

     On page 1 , after line 15, insert:

"      Section 4. There is hereby appropriated from the general fund the sum of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000), or so much thereof as may be necessary, to the Department of Education for a grant to the Rapid City school district to implement a three-year pilot project to address the specific educational needs of impoverished students. The Rapid City school district shall work with the Department of Education to design the pilot project and its methods to address the educational needs of impoverished students.

     Section 5. The secretary of the Department of Education shall approve vouchers and the state auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized by this Act.

     Section 6. Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated by June   30, 2007, shall revert in accordance with §   4-8-21.".
