A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Celebrating and commending Rushmore National Music Camp for fifty years of outstanding commitment to giving students across the state the ability to stay true to its motto: Making Music . . . Making Friends!

WHEREAS, Rushmore National Music Camp, since its establishment in 1970, has provided South Dakota's young musicians an irreplaceable experience of enriching their musicianship through their association with professional music teachers and conductors; and

WHEREAS, Rushmore National Music Camp engages campers to explore music understanding, listening skills, historical perspective, and performance techniques while engaging in activities that build life-long friendships; and

WHEREAS, through a wide variety of engaging experiences and activities, Rushmore National Music Camp promotes the development of the arts within the state of South Dakota and encourages the community promoted by music to grow; and

WHEREAS, over the first fifty years of Rushmore National Music Camp more than 7,500 student musicians have been impacted by the participation in Concert Band, Jazz Band, Concert Choir, Rushmore Singers, and many other Rushmore National Music Camp Ensembles:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-Fifth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that Rushmore National Music Camp is recognized for fifty years of outstanding instruction, commitment to music and the arts, and friendship in South Dakota.
