SDLRC - 2020 Senate Commemoration 830 - SD Legislature Celebrating the twentieth year of the South Dakota Tractor Museum.
Legislative Session 583
South Dakota Legislature
by: Senators Heinert,
and Representatives Barthel,
A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION,
twentieth year of the South Dakota Tractor Museum.
in the town of Kimball, South Dakota, stands the South Dakota Tractor
Museum. The museum opened in May 2000; and
in the twenty years since its opening, there have been eleven
building projects. Starting with just twenty-two tractors, the museum
now boasts much more. There are cars, farm equipment, horse
equipment, a 1917 derby truck, a one-room school, a blacksmith shop,
and a visitor center; and
the Tractor Museum is run by approximately forty local volunteers
overseen by a seven-member board. Every year the museum opens in the
middle of May and remains open through September. People can visit
the museum any time of the year by appointment; and
it is thanks to these volunteers that the museum can provide free
tours. Free-will donations are welcomed. The Tractor Museum stands
just south of I-90 at Exit 284:
THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-Fifth Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that the Legislature celebrates the twentieth
year of the South Dakota Tractor Museum and invites everyone to visit
this enriching attraction.
