A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Congratulating and honoring the Crow Creek Chieftain High School football team for winning the first All Nations Football Conference Championship.

WHEREAS, in 2019, twelve valiant tribal schools came together to form the All Nations Football Conference, which is separated into the East and West Division and consists of nine-man teams; and

WHEREAS, the East Division is made up of six honorable teams, including the Crow Creek Chieftains, Lower Brule Sioux, Tiospa Zina Wambdi, Marty Braves, Flandreau Indians, and St. Francis Warriors, and the West Division is made up of another six honorable teams, including the Red Cloud Crusaders, Little Wound Mustangs, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves, Oelrichs Tigers, Crazy Horse Chiefs, and Takini Skyhawks; and

WHEREAS, the Crow Creek Chieftains played a phenomenal first season in the All Nations Football Conference, went head-to-head with nine of their rivals, and finished the season undefeated with a division record of 5-0 and an overall record of 9-0; and

WHEREAS, the head coach of the Crow Creek Chieftains, Scott Klaudt, was inspired to come out of his twelve-year retirement to coach the hard-working young people of the Crow Creek football team and led his team to victory in their first state football championship in history; and

WHEREAS, the Crow Creek Chieftains emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle with the Lower Brule Sioux High School football team in the state championship with a score of 74-39; and

WHEREAS, the clash of the Crow Creek Chieftains and Lower Brule Sioux in the Dakota Dome will go down in history and bring pride and honor to their families and communities for years to come:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Senate of the Ninety-Fifth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the Legislature congratulates and honors the 2019 Crow Creek Chieftain High School football team and Head Coach Scott Klaudt for their monumental achievement of winning the first All Nations Football Conference Championship.
