A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION,  Honoring the 2000 Viborg Vikings High School football team, coaches, and staff involved in the football program.

     WHEREAS,  the 2000 Viborg Vikings High School football team won the 9-B State High School Football Championship with a 12-0 record through outstanding character, dedication, and perseverance, showing incredible improvement from the 1999 season record of 2-6; and

     WHEREAS,  head coach John Nyhaug and his staff provided excellent leadership and support to the members of the team, and John Nyhaug was named Boys' Football Coach of the Year by the South Dakota High School Coaches Association; and

     WHEREAS,  the students of the 2000 Viborg Vikings football team showed enormous school pride and great leadership on and off the field and were named the Sportswriters 2000 Boys High School Team of the Year:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED,  by the Seventy-sixth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the 2000 Viborg Vikings High School football team be recognized for their excellence in athletics for the 2000-2001 school year.
