An Act to modify certain duties of the secretary of tribal relations and establish an advisory council.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

Section 1. That a NEW SECTION be added:

1-54-3.1 Report to State-Tribal Relations Committee.

The secretary of tribal relations shall make an annual report to the State-Tribal Relations Committee established by § 2-6-20 and shall attend and provide a report of department activities at each official meeting of the committee.

Section 2. That a NEW SECTION be added:

1-54-6.1 Advisory council.

The secretary of tribal relations shall establish an advisory council comprised of one representative from each of the nine federally recognized Indian tribes of this state and one representative from an urban community in this state. The advisory council shall hold quarterly meetings.
