An Act to require the reporting of the number of veterans who die by suicide in this state.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

Section 1. That a NEW SECTION be added to chapter 34-25:

On or before August first of each year, the Department of Health shall publish on its website, the number of residents of this state who died by suicide during the previous calendar year, and who served in:

(1) The armed forces of the United States, as defined in § 13-55-7; or

(2) The South Dakota National Guard.
