An Act to require a mental health assessment for certain individuals being considered for employment by the Division of Highway Patrol.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:
Section 1. That a NEW SECTION be added to chapter 32-2:
Every individual who receives final consideration to be an agent, patrolman, or employee of the Division of Highway Patrol, if the individual is responsible for performing duties as set forth in § 32-2-9, must complete a mental health assessment conducted by a qualified mental health professional, as defined by § 27A-1-3.
