A RESOLUTION, Confirming Tonnis H. Venhuizen, Lincoln County, South Dakota, as lieutenant governor of South Dakota pursuant to S.D. Const., Art. IV, § 6.
WHEREAS, the office of the lieutenant governor has become vacant due to Larry Rhoden’s succession to the office of Governor upon the resignation of Governor Kristi Noem; and
WHEREAS, the South Dakota Constitution provides that “Whenever there is a permanent vacancy in the office of the lieutenant governor, the Governor shall nominate a lieutenant governor who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of all the members of each house of the Legislature”; and
WHEREAS, Governor Larry Rhoden has nominated Tonnis H. Venhuizen to the office of lieutenant governor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Senate of the One Hundredth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that Tonnis H. Venhuizen is confirmed as lieutenant governor of South Dakota by this house pursuant to S.D. Const., Art. IV, § 6.
