A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Honoring the outstanding achievements of Pete Bolzer, Chief of the Brookings Fire Department, and congratulating him on his retirement.

WHEREAS, Pete Bolzer has dedicated over forty-five years to emergency services, and served twenty-five of those years with the City of Brookings; and

WHEREAS, Pete directed the Brookings Fire Department, coordinated the city’s emergency management functions, and led a dedicated team of career and volunteer firefighters committed to protecting and serving the community; and

WHEREAS, Pete has built strong relationships with stakeholders, including neighboring fire departments and the public; and

WHEREAS, Pete fostered a culture of professionalism, safety, and teamwork and has been named the 2021 American Legion Firefighter of the Year for the Midwest Region and the 2012 South Dakota Fire Instructor of the Year, and has received the 2002 Brookings Area Community Service Award;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundredth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that Pete Bolzer has served his community with unwavering commitment and contributed to the betterment of the state of South Dakota.
