\r\n\r\n\r\nRule 20:60:10:01 Definitions.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\n

          20:60:10:01.  Definitions. Terms used in the\r\nchapter mean:

\r\n\r\n

 

\r\n\r\n

          (1)  "Annual licensure\r\nperiod," a 12 consecutive\r\nmonth period beginning on July 1 and ending on June 30;

\r\n\r\n

          (2)  "Board," Board of\r\nExaminers of Psychologists established under SDCL chapter 36-27A;

\r\n\r\n

          (3)  "Contact hour," one hour of\r\nparticipation in an activity that is eligible for credit under § 20:60:10:02;

\r\n\r\n

          (4)  "Continuing\r\neducation unit," ten contact\r\nhours;

\r\n\r\n

          (5)  "Licensee,"\r\na person licensed pursuant to SDCL chapter 36-27A.

\r\n\r\n\r\nRule 20:60:10:02 Activities eligible for credit.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\n

          20:60:10:02.  Activities\r\neligible for credit.\r\nAn activity is eligible for credit if it relates to the practice of psychology\r\nand either:

\r\n\r\n

 

\r\n\r\n

          (1)  Improves or\r\nmaintains the licensee's professional\r\nskills; or

\r\n\r\n

          (2)  Broadens or\r\nrefreshes the licensee's knowledge of\r\ngoverning laws, rules or ethical standards.

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n\r\nRule 20:60:10:03 Amount of continuing education units required.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\n

          20:60:10:03.  Amount\r\nof continuing education units required. A licensee, other than a licensee\r\ninitially licensed after the first day of the annual licensure period, shall\r\ncomplete 1.5 education units during the annual licensure period and make a\r\nwritten report thereof to the board when renewing the license. No more than\r\nfive contact hours may be earned and reported from independent professional\r\nreading per annual licensure period.

\r\n\r\n

 

\r\n\r\n

          The report\r\nrequired under this section must contain the date of each activity, a title or\r\ndescription of each activity, and the number of contact hours that were earned\r\nfrom each activity. For each activity reported, other than independent\r\nprofessional reading, the licensee shall attach a copy of the certificate or\r\nother record of credit issued by the provider of the activity that certifies\r\nthe licensee's participation in the activity on the date reported and the\r\namount of contact hours earned from the activity. The licensee shall retain the\r\noriginal certificate or other record of credit for a period of five years.

\r\n\r\n

 

\r\n\r\n

          Except as provided\r\nin § 20:60:10:04, the\r\nboard may not renew the license of a licensee who fails to comply with the\r\nrequirements of this section.

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n\r\nRule 20:60:10:04 Request for exemption.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\n

          20:60:10:04.  Request\r\nfor exemption.\r\nA licensee may request a waiver of the continuing education unit requirement of\r\n§ 20:60:10:03 by\r\napplying in writing to the board. The application must contain the reasons for\r\nthe request and supporting documentation. The board may waive any part of the\r\ncontinuing education unit requirement for the following reasons:

\r\n\r\n

 

\r\n\r\n

          (1)  The licensee\r\nserved active duty in the armed forces of the United States during any part of\r\nthe annual licensure period;

\r\n\r\n

          (2)  The licensee has\r\nan incapacitating illness or disability documented by a licensed physician; or

\r\n\r\n

          (3)  Other facts and\r\ncircumstances presented by a licensee that the board, in its discretion,\r\nconcludes prevented the licensee from completing the continuing education unit\r\nrequirement.

\r\n\r\n

 

\r\n\r\n

          All requests under\r\nthis section will be considered by the board and evaluated on an individual\r\nbasis.
