The department shall calculate this score separately for the presecondary school level and the secondary school level.</span></p><p dir="ltr" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6P0"><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6000002"> </span></p><p dir="ltr" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6P0"><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">    To calculate the </span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">student achievement </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">SPI key indicator score for a public school, the department shall first divide the maximum points for this indicator in half, in order to count English language arts and mathematics scores equally.</span></p><p dir="ltr" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6P0"><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6000002"> </span></p><p dir="ltr" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6P0"><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">    The department shall then calculate the percentage of students scoring at each performance</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">level.</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> If a school did not assess at least ninety-five percent of the tested population, the number of students needed to reach a ninety-five percent participation rate is added to this calculation. Students not testing shall be assigned a value of zero percent.</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">Full academic year s</span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">tudents scoring at level 1 shall be assigned a value of .25 percent,</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> full academic year</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> students scoring at</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">level 2 a value of .50 percent,</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> full academic year</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> students scoring at level 3 a value of </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">one</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> percent, and</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> full academic year</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> students</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> </span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">scoring at level 4 a value of 1.25 percent. </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">The department</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> shall </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">complete this process</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> separately for math</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> and</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> English language arts.</span></p><p dir="ltr" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6P0"><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6000002"> </span></p><p dir="ltr" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6P0"><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">    The department</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> then</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> shall multiply these weighted points by the </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">maximum points for this indicator</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> to </span><span class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0">calculate separate scores for</span><span xml:space="preserve" class="sc38a8c49-e907-417b-bd03-531cc7bf0bb6C0"> English language arts and math.
