NOTICES OF PROPOSED RULES: (The date in parentheses is the date the rules were filed in the Legislative Research Council)

Department of Education and Cultural Affairs: South Dakota Board of Education: (May 31, 2001) is proposing rules to allow certain university faculty to become certified to teach secondary courses on the state's Digital Dakota Network. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department, is SDCL 13-1-12.1 and 13-42-3.

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2001, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 200 of the Health and Science Center, Southeast Technical Institute, 2301 Career Place, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to Department of Education and Cultural Affairs, South Dakota Board of Education, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-2291. Material sent by mail must reach the department by June 20, 2001, to be considered. This hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Persons who have special needs for which the department can make arrangements may call (605) 773-3426 at least forty-eight hours before the hearing.

Department of Education and Cultural Affairs: (May 31, 2001) intends to adopt rules to define the terms used in the implementation of HB 1258 as adopted by the 2001 South Dakota Legislature, establish the Excess General Fund Oversight Board, establish policies for uniform submission of student record form data, and establish timelines and penalties for student record form and personnel data submissions. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department, is SDCL 13-13-37.4.

A public hearing will be held on Friday, June 29, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., in the Kneip Room, Governor's Inn, 700 West Sioux Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to Department of Education and Cultural Affairs, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-2291. Material sent by mail must reach the department by June 27, 2001, to be considered. This hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Rules Review Committee Meetings

The next meeting of the Interim Rules Review Committee will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 413 of the State Capitol. The committee chair has set the following tentative meeting schedule for the 2001 interim: August 7, October 8, and November 28.

Agencies whose rules have had a public hearing will be scheduled to meet with the Rules Review Committee and are asked to have a representative present at the meeting to give background information on their rules.
