NOTICES OF PROPOSED RULES: (The date in parentheses is the date the rules were filed in the Legislative Research Council)

Department of Education and Cultural Affairs: South Dakota Board of Education: (October 24, 2000) is proposing rules to increase the total number of credits needed to graduate from an accredited high school, while requiring students to complete more coursework in fine arts, math or science, and literature. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department is SDCL 13-1-12.1 and 13-3-47.

A public hearing will be held on November 20, 2000, at 10:00 a.m., in Gallery B, Ramkota Inn, 920 West Sioux Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to the Department of Education and Cultural Affairs, South Dakota Board of Education, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-2291, and must be received by November 17, 2000, to be considered. This hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Persons who have special needs for which the office can make arrangements are asked to call (605) 773-3426 at least forty-eight hours before the hearing.

Correction: The following should have appeared in the Register dated September 11, 2000:

Department of Commerce and Regulation: Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators: (September 8, 2000) intends to adopt rules to allow administrators an inactive status, a biennial licensure renewal and continuing education reporting period, and a clarification of the licensure and exams process. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the board is SDCL 36-28-4, 36-28-10, 36-28-11, 36-28-12, 36-28-14, 36-28-15, 36-28-18, 36-28-18.1, 36-28-18.2, and 36-28-21.1.

A public hearing was held on September 29, 2000, at 1:00 p.m., in the Crystal Room at the Ramkota Inn, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Bureau of Administration: State Director of Purchasing and Printing: (October 27, 2000) Has refiled the rules which appeared in the Register on October 23, 2000, (27 SDR 45). The new hearing date is November 22, 2000.

Rules Review Committee Meetings

The next meeting of the Interim Rules Review Committee will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2000, in Room 413 of the State Capitol, Pierre, starting at 9:00 a.m. The committee chair has tentatively set the December meeting for the 12th. Agencies whose rules have had a public hearing are asked to have a representative present at the meeting to give background information on their rules.
