NOTICES OF PROPOSED RULES (The date in parentheses is the date the rules were filed in the Legislative Research Council):

Department of Game, Fish and Parks: Division of Parks and Recreations (December 17, 1998) is considering rules which would increase the number of licenses available for the spring wild turkey hunting season, modify the length of the water fowl hunting season to decrease the snow goose population, permit hunting of snow geese in some refuges, add Edgemont to the list of cities where trail use is permitted for hunting, prohibit use of firearms and bows on Blood Run nature area, permit lead shot target shooting on posted areas of publicly owned land, prohibit possession of metal detectors at Fort Sisseton State Park and Blood Run nature area, modify placement of a park entrance license on motorcycles, modify park entrance fees for one-day organized events, modify fees for cancellation of campsite reservation permits, establish fees for the group picnic shelter at Custer State Park, increase price of firewood sold by the department, amend Mickelson Trail user fees, change location of the public swimming zone at Snake Creek Recreation Area, and define fishing tournaments in regard to special event permits. The general authority for these rules as cited by the department, is SDCL 41-2-18, 41-11-5, 41-17-1.1, 41-17-13, 41-17-13.4, and 42-8-1.1.

A public hearing will be held at the Kings Inn, 220 South Pierre, Pierre, SD, on January 7, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to John Cooper, Secretary, Department of Game, Fish and Parks, Foss Building, 523 East Capitol, Pierre, SD 57501. Material sent by mail must be received prior to the hearing date to be considered. Comments may also be sent by e-mail to scottc@gfp.state.sd.us. E-mail comments must include the commenter's name and address. Persons who have special needs for which the department can make arrangements are asked to contact the department secretary for assistance before the hearing.
