         FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to repeal the definition for a rural primary care hospital and to provide for a definition of a critical access hospital.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
     Section  1.  That subdivision (8) of § 34-12-1.1 be amended to read as follows:
             (8)      "Rural primary care hospital," any hospital which has limited acute inpatient services, focusing on ambulatory, primary, and preventive care and which has in effect an agreement with a general hospital that provides emergency and medical backup services and accepts patient referrals from the rural primary care hospital. A rural primary care hospital shall provide emergency care on a twenty-four hour basis "Critical access hospital," any nonprofit or public hospital providing emergency care on a twenty-four hour basis located in a rural area which has limited acute inpatient services, focusing on primary and preventive care, and which has in effect an agreement with a general hospital that provides emergency and medical backup services and accepts patient referrals from the critical access hospital ; and
