FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to
increase estimated cost for certain construction projects
and to declare an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. That section 1 of chapter 109 of the 1998 Session Laws be amended to read as follows:

Section 1. That section 1 of chapter 109 of the 1998 Session Laws be amended to read as follows:
It being declared to be in the public interest, the South Dakota Building Authority may
contract for the construction, completion, furnishing, equipping, and maintaining of renovation
projects at the Civil/Mechanical Engineering Building, the McLaury Building, and the Mineral
Industries Building at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City,
Pennington County, and of a renovation project and an addition to the Crothers Engineering Hall
at the South Dakota State University in Brookings, Brookings County, including heating, air
conditioning, plumbing, water, sewer, electric facilities, architectural and engineering services,
asbestos abatement, acquisition of lands on behalf of the Board of Regents for the use and benefit
of South Dakota State University, site preparation and the construction of sidewalks and
driveways and landscaping the grounds of that facility, and such other services as may be
required to accomplish the purposes of this Act, all at the estimated cost of
seven
eight
million
five
one
hundred thousand dollars
($7,500,000)
($8,100,000)
. The Building Authority may
finance the same, including the issuance of revenue bonds, in accordance with this section and
chapter 5-12. In no event may the Building Authority issue bonds for more than five million
eighty thousand dollars ($5,080,000).

Whereas, this Act is necessary for the support of the state government and its
existing public institutions, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Act shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
