FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to
allow pneumatic tires with retractable studs to be used
upon highways year round.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. That chapter 32-19 be amended by adding thereto a NEW SECTION to read as follows:

Section 1. That chapter 32-19 be amended by adding thereto a NEW SECTION to read as follows:
Notwithstanding the provisions of
§
32-19-3, any motor vehicle with pneumatic tires that
features an embedded block, stud, flange, cleat, spike, or other protuberance that is retractable
may be used at any time of the year upon the highways of this state. However, no such block,
stud, flange, cleat, spike, or other protuberance may be engaged or extended from May first to
September thirtieth, inclusive. A violation of this section is a Class 2 misdemeanor.
