A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Honoring the Canton High School wrestling program.
WHEREAS, Canton High School has had a very strong wrestling program for the last two
decades; and
WHEREAS, the Canton High School wrestling program over the last number of years has won
many conference, district, and regional wrestling championships; and
WHEREAS, in the last decade the Canton High School wrestling program has been a state
runner-up three times in 2006, 2008, and 2010; and
WHEREAS, in 2012, the Canton High School Wrestling Team won its first ever state
championship; and
WHEREAS, the Canton High School Wrestling Team has consistently demonstrated an excellent
record of sportsmanship, dedication, and commitment; and
WHEREAS, the 2015-2016 team won the Class B State Wrestling Championship held in Rapid
City on February 26 and 27, 2016:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-First Legislature of the State
of South Dakota, that the Legislature honors the 2015-2016 Canton Wrestling Team on its Class B
State Wrestling Championship and recognizes the coaching staff and the entire team for the
outstanding effort at the 2016 Class B State Wrestling Championship.
