        FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to require each school district to adopt a policy to provide for students with specific learning disabilities.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
    Section 1. That chapter 13-37 be amended by adding a NEW SECTION to read:
    For the purposes of this Act, a specific learning disability is a disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself in the imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or to do mathematical calculations, including conditions such as perceptual disabilities, brain injury, minimal brain dysfunction, dyslexia, and developmental aphasia.
    Section 2. That chapter 13-37 be amended by adding a NEW SECTION to read:
    Each school district shall, by January 1, 2018, adopt a policy to provide for any child with a specific learning disability, including dyslexia.
    Section 3. That chapter 13-37 be amended by adding a NEW SECTION to read:
    At the time of a school district's accreditation review conducted pursuant to § 13-1-12.1, the Department of Education shall ensure that the school district is complying with the provisions of this Act.
