AN ACT
ENTITLED, An Act to revise certain provisions regarding the payment of tuition for members of
the South Dakota National Guard and to declare an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. That § 33-6-6 be amended to read:
33-6-6. Any member of the National Guard of the State of South Dakota, who is a resident of the State of South Dakota and who possesses the entrance requirements for admission to any postsecondary technical institute program, is entitled to complete one program of study approved by the State Board of Education in any state postsecondary technical institute upon payment of sixteen and one-half percent of the tuition charges. The remaining tuition shall be paid or otherwise credited by the postsecondary technical institute. However, the state benefit is paid after applying the federal tuition benefit. The total federal and state benefit may not exceed one hundred percent of the tuition cost.
Section 2. Whereas, this Act is necessary for the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
