FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to revise the minimum age requirements for the
consumption of alcoholic beverages by certain active duty members of the military.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. That chapter 35-9 be amended by adding a NEW SECTION to read:

Section 1. That chapter 35-9 be amended by adding a NEW SECTION to read:
Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a licensee under this title, or any
employee of the licensee, may sell or furnish alcoholic beverages for consumption on the
premises of a bar or restaurant to a person who:
(1) Is at least eighteen years old;
(2) Is an active duty, reserve or National Guard service member of the armed forces of
the United States; and
(3) At the time the alcoholic beverage is sold or furnished, displays a valid armed forces
identification card issued to the person by the United States Department of Defense.
