An Act to provide for the study of the Community, Hope, Opportunity, Independence, Careers, Empowerment, Success waiver program and to provide an appropriation therefor.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the general fund the sum of $450,000 to the Department of Legislative Audit, for the purpose of hiring a contractor to study state and federal laws, regulations, and services relating to the operation and administration of the CHOICES waiver program within the Department of Human Services.

Section 2. The auditor general of Legislative Audit shall approve vouchers and the state auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized by this Act.

Section 3. Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated shall revert in accordance with the procedures prescribed in chapter 4-8.

Section 4. This Act is effective June 30, 2024.
