A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Honoring the Mount Rushmore Rug Hookers' Social Club, a member of the national organization, Association of Traditional Hooking Artists.
WHEREAS, the Mount Rushmore Rug Hookers' Social Club, comprised of members from Rapid City and surrounding areas, created a seventeen-inch by nineteen-inch hooked rug, entitled South Dakota, Land of Infinite Variety; and
WHEREAS, ten artists contributed to this rug and created it out of wool fabric strips, as well as buffalo hair used for the buffalo depicted; and
WHEREAS, the hooked rug represents South Dakota's diversity, and depicts rolling farmland, a teepee, a buffalo, Mount Rushmore, the flag of the United States of America, and Native American design:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninety-Seventh Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the Mount Rushmore Rug Hookers' Social Club are recognized for their artistry in creating a hooked rug entitled South Dakota, Land of Infinity Variety.
