A JOINT RESOLUTION, Proposing and submitting to the voters at the next general election an amendment to the Constitution of the State of South Dakota to increase the maximum number of members of the South Dakota Legislature.
Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of South Dakota, the House of Representatives concurring therein:
Section 1. That at the next general election held in the state, the following amendment to Article III, § 2 of the Constitution of the State of South Dakota, as set forth in section 2 of this Joint Resolution, which is hereby agreed to, shall be submitted to the electors of the state for approval.
Section 2. That Article III, § 2 of the Constitution of the State of South Dakota, be AMENDED:
§ 2. After
the Legislature elected for the years 1937 and 1938 the number of
members of the house of representatives shall not be less than fifty
nor more than
seventy-five
eighty and the
number of members of the senate shall not be less than twenty-five
nor more than
thirty-five
forty.
The sessions of the Legislature shall be biennial except as otherwise provided in this Constitution.
