        FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to revise a provision regarding the commencement of office for the Governor.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
    Section 1. That § 3-1-2 be amended to read:
    3-1-2. Except as otherwise expressly provided, all any state, district, and county officers officer, other than the Governor, shall qualify and enter upon the duties of their office on the first Monday of January succeeding their the officer's election or within twenty days thereafter following the first Monday. However, a state officer The Governor may qualify and enter upon the duties of office on the Saturday immediately preceding the second Tuesday of January that succeeds the state officer's the Governor's election.
