FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to authorize the Game, Fish and Parks Commission to
provide for a special hunting license with the proceeds to be used for habitat.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:

The Game, Fish and Parks Commission may provide for a special license that allows a
person to hunt one or more game animals. The commission may establish a nonrefundable
application fee, not to exceed ten dollars for any resident and not to exceed twenty dollars for
any nonresident, to apply for the special license. Licenses issued under this Act may authorize
the take of no more than ten big game animals annually. Successful applicants shall be selected
by drawing. Proceeds from the application fee collected shall be used for habitat programs. The
commission shall promulgate rules, pursuant to chapter 1-26, to establish the season and
guidelines for the season, and to establish the fee provisions.
The commission shall, before the fourth Tuesday in January of each year, report to the
Senate and House standing committees on agriculture and natural resources and on
appropriations regarding the activities authorized by this section. The report shall include a
description of the season established, the number of licenses issued, the amount of revenue generated, and the progress of the habitat programs funded under this section.
