FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to provide for the increase of higher education enrolled
members of the nine federally recognized tribes in South Dakota at regental institutions.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. That chapter 13-53 be amended by adding a NEW SECTION to read:

The Board of Regents is hereby authorized and encouraged to develop programs to increase
enrollment and improve retention and student supports for any student who is a member of one
of the nine federally recognized tribes in South Dakota at state institutions, including
exploration and development of tuition assistance or waiver programs.
